Research Collection

Geoff Allnutt has a large personal collection accumulated during years of working as a watch and clock restorer in the family business. His acquisitions range from horology related postcards to packaging, advertising, ephemeral documents and historic accessories.

These are being gradually sorted and catalogued with a view to digitising the objects and making the collection accessible to anyone for research purposes or general interest. These items represent the social history behind the clocks and watches we work with every day.

Please see below a selection of watch guards that were used on the earliest wristwatches.

Once the collection is catalogued and digitised, we hope it will provide a platform for discussion and a basis for related events including talks, exhibitions and forums.

All are welcome to visit Geoff Allnutt Clocks in Grange Road, Midhurst to see the work in progress and exchange knowledge and information.

We look forward to seeing you.
